Hey yogi,
We are living through a digital overload crisis! Every day, we are bombarded with pings, notifications and an endless cycle of doom scrolling. The average person spends 7+ hours a day looking at screens, bouncing between content in 15 second bursts. Social media pulls us into stories that aren’t our own - one moment, we're laughing at a meme, the next, we're hit with more catastrophic news.
This cycle creates mental fatigue, subtly elevating stress levels as we completely exist in another external world, detached from your own reality.
But as Auntie taught us, we say “I’m Reclaiming My Time” - Maxine Waters, Congresswoman.
So, how do we reclaim our presence to exist in our own story?
Mindfulness - Sit in silence and simply listen to your thoughts. Make an abrupt halt in your day to just listen to yourself. This is who you are, right now, in this moment. Let the thoughts exist and take over the moment without anything external interfering.
Controlled breathing - Reset your nervous system with a fresh batch of oxygen for the body. When you focus on the consistent repetitiveness of breathing, each inhale and exhale is resetting your body and clearing out stress.
Body Awareness - Roll out your mat, close your eyes and actually tap into the physical ebbs and flows of your body. Notice your body shift, twitch, stretch, reach and release. Let your yoga practice bring you back into yourself.
3 of the 8 Limbs of Yoga: Dhyana Meditation, Pranayama Breathing, Asana Poses
When you unplug, you create space - space to be, to feel, to rediscover yourself.
Disconnecting from digital screens creates space - space to be, to feel to rediscover who you are today. You step away from being so involved in everyone else's story and you return to your own story.
Return to your safe place of peace, one breath at a time.
